Waikato has three NZ Cycle Trail Great Rides: The Hauraki Rail Trail, backcountry Timber Trail, and challenging Waikato River Trails. Te Awa follows the river for 70km, the route weaves through rural and urban landscapes, taking in waterfalls and historic Maori sites as well as trendy shops, cafes and wineries.
MTB Parks include Sainsbury Road in the Waipa District, Pukete Farm in Hamilton city, Cougar MTB Park near Tokoroa. And check out loops in and around Raglan, in Otorohanga.
